Incident:

2019. Maculadas sin remedio exhibition, Galería de Presidencia del Palacio de la Merced, Cordoba.


In 2019, the Spanish political parties PP and Vox asked for the artwork to be removed from an exhibition in Cordoba, for being offensive. Abogados Cristianos foundation, PP and Asociación Presencia Cristiana filed two complaints against it. Shortly afterwards, a visitor to the museum slashed the painting from top to bottom. The aggressor was never identified. The complaints were dismissed.


Biography:

Charo Corrales (Olvera, 1968) is a multidisciplinary artist, photographer and cultural manager. With a strong feminist base, her work deals with themes such as the body, the passage of time and immigration. Her work is autobiographical, with a special interest in the personal diary and the portrait.
