Incident:

2019. Emiliano. Zapata después de Zapata exhibition, Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes, Mexico City.

In 2019, Zapatista organisations staged a protest in front of the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, demanding the removal of the artwork. They threatened to destroy it and assaulted members of the LGTB+ community. Zapata’s family called for respect for the revolutionary leader. All this led to an outpouring of solidarity with the artist as a defender of sexual freedom.
